My grandfather and then uncle owned Crystal Rock for 50 years. My husband is a musician so we love learning about who played the stage. As kids and teens growing up all the cousins used to sleep on the stage when we were visiting.
This is so interesting. I am the daughter of the owners who built the Crystal Rock and had Buddy Holly there among many others. I am planning a trip to Wisconsin in a few weeks and plan to see if I can go into the ballroom/roller rink. My parents built that from the ground up and I cannot tell you how many hours I spent there, either in enjoying the entertainment, cleaning and scrubbing the floors after the dances and all the nights of roller skating. Sooooo many wonderful memories of all of the bands that played at the Crystal Rock. There are many more as in Gene Vincent, The Everly Brothers, Minnie Pearl, Little Jimmy Dickens Johnny Cash twice, Carl Perkins, Frankie Yankovic and Eddie Howard to name a few.. That was a long time ago and it is hard to remember all of them. My father Frank Loduha has passed but my mother, Pat Loduha is now living with us in the south. She will be sooo pleased to see this. My daughter and I are bringing her up to Rhinelander in a few weeks to celebrate her 93rd birthday. We will for sure, stop at the Crystal Rock!!!! Thank you so much for the article and if you ever want more information, please feel free to contact me at my email address. The daughter that is coming along now owns STAAR theatre in Pulaski, TN that they are renovating. It was the oldest opera house in Tn. and they are working to restore it. It is at WWW.ANTOINETTEHALL.COM for information. The restoration of these old ballrooms and theatre's and opera houses are unbelievable. Again, thank you for the article and if you need any further information regarding Crystal Rock, please feel free to contact me.
