1/5/2017 7:28:00 AM Reader sounds off on gas prices
To the editor:
The "Gas Watch" on the front page of the newspaper is a real "sore spot" for me. You list three local prices along with the price in Rhinelander. They are all cheaper than here. You skip over Wausau, which is the cheapest in the whole area, but then you jump to Madison and Milwaukee (again cheaper) but who from Rhinelander is buying their gas in those two cities on a daily basis?
You could, of course, head west toward Ladysmith and again you will find that gas along the entire route is cheaper than Rhinelander. In fact, everyone is cheaper than Rhinelander! Why is that? Is it a supply issue? No. How about demand? Again, no. Maybe it's because we live "off the beaten path." Again, that can't be it because these fuel trucks go right by us on the way to any of those towns and cities around us where they charge less. Well then, what is the real reason for the high cost of gasoline in Rhinelander?
We are encouraged to "buy locally" to help our local economy but are you willing to do that when you have to pay more for the product? I don't know about you but I will continue to fuel up wherever it's cheaper.

Wake up, It's called collusion. People hoped that with Kwik Trip coming here it would help to bring prices down. Well, I guess a couple more of them will help keep prices high. Buy elsewhere when you can.
