3/10/2020 7:30:00 AM Middle school FACT group ready to 'Take Down Tobacco'
The Take Down Tobacco National Day of Action is March 18, 2020. The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids hosts this National Day for groups of youth around the country to do amazing things, raising awareness about tobacco and the harm it does to our families and communities. This year is the 25th anniversary and we are celebrating how far we have come. There is still much to do to address the youth vaping epidemic.
As members of the Rhinelander FACT Group we believe that awareness is important so youth do not start using tobacco. For example, we see kids vaping in bathrooms and locker rooms, but they don't see that vaping can severely damage your health. It can also impact your friendships. The tobacco industry is impacting teen's health by using flavors and bright colors that are drawing kids to these products.
As a member of FACT, a youth-driven movement of Wisconsin teens spreading the truth about tobacco, I hope to educate my peers and community about the dangers of tobacco, including vapes. Tobacco products have changed but we're ready to Take Down Tobacco! Visit FACTmovement.org to learn more about the work of FACT groups throughout the state.
