11/6/2012 7:30:00 AM Good schools are invaluable to a community
To the editor:
In 1974, when we were considering a move to Rhinelander, a very significant concern for us was whether the area schools would provide the education we wanted for our children.
Recently, we once again reminisced on the privilege it was to be a part of the School District of Rhinelander. Over the years, our children encountered so many fine teachers that we can't name them all. Teachers who loved what they were doing, and who worked hard to impart that love, demanding an excellence that allowed our children to feel comfortable and competent anywhere when they graduated.
First of all, we want to say, "thank you." Secondly, however, in the midst of the latest threatened budget shortfalls in the district, we want to send out a plea to everyone to remember how important good schools are. If Rhinelander doesn't have schools it is proud of, people won't want to move here.
The school district exceeded our expectations. We hope it will continue to do so for future students.
