Reader responds to letter about matters of conscience and faith

To the Editor:

I am responding to Mr. Craig Strid's column about conscience and faith. He bemoans the state of the immigration community, asking where are the people that should be protecting these innocent immigrants trying to seek refuge in America. May I remind him that this is a country that relishes and celebrates the killing of babies, inside or maybe now outside the mother's womb. Did not the great Bloomberg just make his city pink to celebrate a new law to murder babies? I have heard Mother Teresa call us one of the poorest countries for allowing this distraction of youth to happen, now what would this Saint have to say that we broaden the killing.

Are we to enjoy life, celebrating diversity and equality for all of us, the poor, the minority, the women, the LGBTQ community?

Just don't mention those little babies, with beating hearts and human minds. I know now I'm just being rude to say a tiny human baby is the same as all the other humans. Yes Mr. Strid in America, as it seems we are certainly not United, but we are all created equal.

Craig, I wouldn't worry about Scott Meier. Those who know how to read and how to think critically know what you were driving at. We also know he used two false arguments to avoid discussing the issue you brought up, and instead used it as a platform for his personal agenda. Obvious use of a Red Herring and an Appeal to Emotion. Nothing like trying to hijack the conversation. BTW - I agree with your position.

Scott in growing up my mother was an obstetrics registered nurse.and as a hospital corpsmen in training I was assigned to the nursery at Great Lakes Hospital were I fed, rocked and cradled, changed diapers and charted daily progress. In Pensacola hospital the nursery was a routine visit as part of my laboratory blood run. From there I went to field med. school after which I was attached to the 3rd Marines in Okinawa. I then went on amphibious landing practice, jungle survival school and then traveled to the Vietnam coast as part of a Navy flotilla. My last year I ran a dispensary labratory and attended ambulance runs out of Camp Pendleton for service members and families. Then when I got home I was in Rhinelander law Enforcement for 30 years in which I initially investigated accidents with injury and death, child abuse, crib death, domestic violence and homocides with elderly victims. And to mention the other duties of a law enforcement officer including Officer Friendly. I raised three wonderful sons including my Downe Syndrome son who gives me his love and humor every day.
This is the reason I object and resent your rudeness and lack of personal regard in your rampage that had nothing to do with my submission. Police have a saying to better illustrate the word assume.
Respectfully yours,
Craig Strid

Scott I don't think I have to change what I submitted because it reflected the compassion in my heart to bring attention to the ills of our capital.. I understood what you said but I don't think that I earned for you to lay shame on what I addressed. You used my submission as a spring board to voice your strongest opinion. I sign my submissions food for thought to avoid emotional guided attacks. I would like to add that we are not created equal. No two people are genetically the same. We sometimes share similar and related experiences but we are individuals. In 32 years of law enforcement I became the target of many emotional unjustified attacks and threats. When I say unjustified I'm not deameaning your cause or concerns. In this case I feel the ends does not justify the means. I am well versed in the ills of mankind. I just wish you would have walked a mile in my moccasins before you snapped.
Food for thought.
