Swearingen believes in doing what is right

To the editor:

We support Rob Swearingen. Many of you are aware of Rob's successful management skills as owner of the Al-Gen Dinner Club. You may also know that Rob is personable, approachable and a good speaker. These traits will help make him an effective Assemblyman.

What we have also seen of Rob is his support of a cause because he believes it to be right, even if it doesn't personally benefit him. That, we believe, will make him a representative that will make our 34th Assembly District proud.

Bringing back smoking to bars, etc. is a non-issue.

I agree with Ms. Schneider. Bringing back smoking to pubs and restaurants at this point would be a giant step backward for public health efforts to create safe and smoke free environments for both patrons and employees of public places. In fact, the collection of smokers now gathering outside bars and restaurants makes one realize why a municipality might make an entire downtown area smoke free.

That may be true, but what worries me is his support of causes that do benefit him, such as bringing back smoking to pubs and restaurants. Just say no.
