Democratic Party doesn't represent women

To the editor:

The "War on Women" created by the Democratic Party shows that members of the Democratic Party believe women think about nothing but reproductive organs. In reality, we are very worried about cancer and the fact that multiple partners are one cause.

Women are concerned about stress on the family budget caused by the current $4,000 annual loss in spendable income and by rapidly increasing gas and food costs.

Women care about the quality of education received by their children and grandchildren. We are disgusted that children are no longer taught the truth: America is a republic and capitalism and free markets created a society of free people who could dream big and fulfill those dreams.

Most women want their children to become contributing members of society so they will know the personal satisfaction of using their skills to create something beautiful that will advance the standard of living for their country. Women are very worried about the "transformation" of America and American values that we see being imposed through our schools.

As a Catholic, I resent Obamacare regulations which create needless religious conflicts pitting the church against the state. I also resent the disrespect shown by the Democratic Party for those citizens who believe God plays a major role in their lives.

The real "War on Women" is conducted by any campaign that minimizes the contributions that most women make to society. Governmental interference in women's reproductive decisions is not an issue that adequately represents women.

As a Catholic, is it not true that you have to say you are a Catholic first, and a woman second?

As a woman, my worries are reproductive rights. They take those away, it is going to become a lot harder staying in the workforce. A number of studies have shown that by allowing women to delay marriage and childbearing, the pill has also helped them invest in their skills and education, join the workforce in greater numbers, move into higher-status and better-paying professions and make more money overall.
