2/21/2017 7:29:00 AM Reader: Trump-Hitler comparison unfair
To the editor:
Before I get to my main point, I wonder why the River News, The Northwoods River News, "The Official Newspaper of The Oneida County Seat," finds it necessary to fill space with a letter from someone in Monona?
Are there not enough liberal newspapers in the Madison area, or perhaps there's just not enough newsprint in all of Madison to publish all the false, misleading, negative, comments about our legally elected president?
So here's just another Democrat/Liberal/Leftie accusation that a Republican is a Nazi or Hitler. (Gerrie Martini Feb. 11, 2017). In the election cycle of 2000, noted and respected ABC TV news anchor Ron Magers was in Germany and when asked what the German people thought of Barack Obama he reported, "The Germans are wary of charismatic speakers."
I might be mistaken (but I'm not) since Gerri didn't write any letters comparing Obama's rallies to Hitler's speeches at Nuremberg. Or Gerrie's letter critical of Obama when his claim of having the most transparent administration in history failed to materialize......just like Gerrie's letter.
Wasn't it community organizer Barack Obama who shouted and yelled slogans: Hope and Change, Stop Global Warming, Prevent sea levels from rising, blah, blah, blah? And brainwashed some of the people?
Gerrie mentioned the peaceful Women's March but I guess she forgot the protest the day before when the intolerant left sent their liberal/progressive brownshirts out to try to disrupt the Inauguration, incite violence, cause property damage, including breaking D.C. shop windows and burning a Limo owned by a Muslim businessman, and generally create mayhem. But I'll bet when it was over they were all awarded participation ribbons and got to stop for ice cream on the way home.
Old news, as it was the same class of punks, thugs, and anarchists who earlier disrupted Trump rallies. Remember March 11 in Chicago? Remember Robert Creamer, husband of Illinois Democrat Representative Jan Shakowsky, who while working for two progressive groups resigned from the Clinton campaign when it was revealed that he and others hired protesters to attend Trump rallies and incite violence. Gee, Gerrie, that sounds like something a Nazi would do.
And as for "Obama's diplomatic, graceful, peaceful, years in the White House", Gerrie must have forgotten the rise of that kooky JV outfit called ISIS, the Chinese building military bases in international waters, the Syrian red line, the Iran nuclear deal, Billions gambled on "green" companies which all went bankrupt, alienating Israel our strongest ally in the Middle east, presiding over the first downgrading of America's credit rating because of his poor economic policies, suing states that tried to enforce federal immigration laws, increasing the national debt $9 trillion in his 8 years, and much more too numerous to list.
His brilliant faculty lounge policy of "Leading from Behind" has only left America behind and weakened this country. The end of his term in office could not have come soon enough.

Didn't Gerrie Martini write an empassioned letter of support for the American Socialist Bernie Sanders? Wasn't the NAZI party the German National Socialist Party?

I guess in Ray Novotny's world, former Rhinelander residents don't get to read the Rhinelander paper nor write letters to it.
