Michael Calvin Eades

Michael Calvin Eades, age 65, of Rhinelander, was raised to the Kingdom of Heaven to be with his parents and brother, John, on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield following a week-long battle after suffering a stroke. He was born on Sept. 3, 1947, in Rhinelander, to Chester and Virginia (Evers) Eades.

Mike was born and raised in Rhinelander and was an auto mechanic and then a logger for many years. He then entered into contract sales at local lumber yards and most recently was employed at Rhinelander GM/Toyota, bringing him full circle back to his love of automobiles. At the dealership, as with all his jobs, you could find him doing what he did best, talking with his customers. Mike had a way with people and could talk with anyone for hours.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, football, baseball, taking long drives in the country, and playing and spending time with his grandchildren. Mike will be greatly missed by all.

Mike is survived by his life-long partner, Frances Eades, of Rhinelander; his children, Kurt (Christie) of Georgia, David (Wendy) of Ashland, Tammy (Jim) of Rhinelander, and Jennifer (Joel) of Hurley; grandchildren, Kelisa (Ray), Heather, Brady, Xan, Megan, Ashley (Zachary), and Courtney; two great-grandchildren, Koen and Anya; grandchildren by love, Madison and Brady Jorgenson, Benjamin Moore, and Mikalya Meecham; a sister, Barbara (Mel) Specht of Rhinelander; four brothers, LeRoy (Shirley) Eades and Richard Eades, both of Rhinelander, Ronald (Karen) Eades of Florida, and Robert (Bonnie) Eades of Illinois; sister-in-law, Jean Eades of Rhinelander; and many nieces and nephews including, Nikki (Tim) Eades, Shaun (Melissa) Eades, and Sarah Tschannon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John; and a sister-in-law, Fran.

A service of remembrance for Mike will take place at 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at the Carlson Funeral Home, (715) 369-1414 / Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home.

Had lots of good times with Mike when he was a child. He used to go with "uncle Gordy & Caroline Evers" fishing. My sympathy to family.

I work at Quality Paint & Body in Minocqua and Mike was our delivery man for our Toyota parts. He was always kind, fun to talk to and seemed like a great guy who talked often of his family and how much he loved them. We were so sorry to hear of his passing.

These comments not only make me smile and cry but warm my heart to know that my dad touched so many. Yes, he was a character but like you all said, he had a huge heart! Thank you for all the kind words. He is terribly missed!

Heaven help Heaven, Mike & John together. Well at least one will try to keep the other one on the straight and narrow. We will miss you Mike. It was my pleasure to know for all of these past years. I never met a person I did not like, thanks Mike.

I feel a very heavy loss in Mike's passing. When I patrolled the streets and would be greeted by Mike he would first give me a great smile, followed by a strong hand shake and leave me with a comfort of sincere concern and care. Mike had a gift and I'm so glad that he shared it with me. Sometimes it is hard for a cop to find a sincere friend, but Mike stepped up to the plate.
