Darrell Hunter

Darrell Hunter, age 82, a lifelong resident of Sugar Camp, passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017 at his home. He was born July 27, 1935, in Sugar Camp, to parents Harry Sr. and Irma Hunter. Darrell attended Sugar Camp Elementary School, Three Lakes High School and UW Madison, where he earned a bachelor's degree. He worked for 38 years as a farm manager and geneticist at Frito Lay. He loved to hunt, golf and build furniture and puzzles. Darrell loved to play slow-pitch baseball when he was able to. He was a huge Packers fan and of NASCAR racing. Darrell was active in the Sugar Camp Youth Group, a volunteer firefighter, sexton of the St. Kunegunda Cemetery for 25 years, an EMT, town supervisor, a eucharistic minister and an ump for Little League. Darrell was preceded in death by his daughter, Joanie Fairfield, son, Paul Hunter, and grandson Jason Fairfield. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Nancy Hunter of Sugar Camp; daughters Judie (Jim) Kwaterski of Bend, Ore., Julie Hunter of Bend, Ore., Kathy (Troy) Huber of Sugar Camp, Chrisie Hunter of Bend, Ore.; brother: Harry Jr. (Jane) Hunter of Lakeland, Fla.; sister Deanna Stein of Chicago; son-in-law: Gary Fairfield; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and numerous other family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017 at St. Kunegunda Catholic Church in Sugar Camp. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Dearly beloved by all!

I had the chance to meet Darrel Hunter when I was spending some time at frito lay research farm in Tender Foot route location in Rhinelander
Wi. in 1979. We were making potato genetic research .Darrel Hunter was a great person who
treated me the best way.He was gifted with
a big and sensitive human potential.
I wil allways remember him as a men filled with a great heart. I am from guadalajara Jal Mexico
