Marjorie L. Lovestead, age 98, of Rhinelander, died August 8, 2017, at Friendly Village Nursing Home. She was born June 26, 1919 in Kiron, Iowa to Russell and Lura (Moffit) Linman. Survivors include her son Scott (Beth) Lovestead of Branford, CT. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard S.Lovestead on Oct. 11, 2011.
Marge received her undergraduate degree in Home Economics from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, where she met and married Howard Lovestead, her
husband of 66 years. Marge was a professional homemaker who enjoyed expanding her professional knowledge in cooking and the culinary arts and sewing. She taught Home Economics as a substitute teacher at Rhinelander Union High School and was the Oneida County Home Economist. Marge was active in her church; first at Trinity Lutheran and later at Immanuel Lutheran. She was a talented and gracious hostess who loved welcoming friends and neighbors into her home. One of her great passions was education and she was very active in the American Association of University Women and the School of the Arts for most of her life. A dedicated reader, Marge was a principal organizer of the AAUW annual book sale. After her husband's retirement Marge also volunteered as a patient greeter and escort at St. Mary's Hospital and Ministry St. Mary's Hospital. She had a passionate interest in the arts and was skilled in painting and drawing, photography, sculpting and weaving, and played piano as well. She was an active artist throughout her life, continuing to paint and draw even in her later years. She greatly enjoyed taking classes at Nicolet College, especially in the arts, and donated her extensive collection of art books to the Nicolet College Library. She loved spending time at her lake cottage and visits to her family farm in Iowa.
A memorial service for Marjorie will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11 a.m., with visiting time from 10 to 11 a.m., all at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Reverend Tammy Barthels will officiate. You may leave your private condolences for Marjorie's

I'm so sorry that your mom passed away. I know how hard it is being across country, dealing with the family estate and having mom in a nursing home. I hope you have all found peace. I've thought of you both often over the last couple years and have always been impressed by your strength and graciousness.
