Doris L. Huven
Doris L. Huven, age 79 of the Town of Monico, passed away Thursday morning, July 12, 2018 at her residence with her loving family at her side and under the care of Aspirus Home Care Hospice.
Doris was born in Elmhurst, Ill. on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 1939, the daughter of William L. and Violet P. (LaVette) Johnson Sr. The family moved to Monico when Doris was in fourth grade. She attended Monico Grade School through eighth grade, where she played on the girl's basketball team. Doris then attended Three Lakes High School, graduating in 1956. She married Walter "Sonny" Huven on Oct. 18, 1958 in Minnesota. They lived in Monico their entire married life.
Doris was employed at Twist Drill for over 25 years and then was a Home Health Aid for 10 years. She loved going with her family on camping trips and traveling to Florida, Tennessee, Utah, South Dakota, Wyoming, New Mexico and Canada. Just spending time with her kids, grandkids and friends made her happy. She enjoyed shopping, reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, TV detective shows, rummage sales and walking around outside.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son, Wayne; granddaughter Elisha, two brothers-in-law and by two nephews.
She is survived by her daughter Pauline Huven of Monico, sons Nate (Desiree) Huven of Pleasantville, Utah, Russell (Shari) Huven of Smithville, Tennessee, and Michael (Jodi) Huven of Elcho; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is one brother, William "Bill" (Karen) Johnson of Monico, two sisters-in-laws, Grace Ort of Edgar, Wis., Diane Huven of Moorcroft, Wyoming; her best friend since grade school Iris Lundt of Rhinelander and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Doris is further survived by her furry friends Sami, Andi, and Chester.
The visitation for Doris will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018, from 12:30 p.m. until the 2:30 p.m. memorial service at the Hildebrand Funeral Home. Chaplain John Uhlarik will be officiating. Immediately following the service there will be a procession to the Monico Cemetery where a committal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Doris may be given to the family. We love and miss you already Mom! You'll be forever in our hearts.
