Rod (Roger) Gaskill passed away last Wednesday, July 18, 2018, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. His wife, Beckie, was by his side as he was called home. Rod had lived in Rhinelander since the mid '90s, when he moved from Las Vegas after retiring from the City of Las Vegas. He worked for several heating and cooling companies before starting his own business, 4 Seasons Heating and Cooling, which he ran for eight years before he got sick.
Rod loved the heating and cooling business, but he loved fishing more. He was an avid tournament angler and fished many tournaments with Beckie, who became his fishing partner shortly after the two met. Rod belonged to several local bass clubs at various times and many anglers remember him as the boisterous tournament director for the Hodag Bassmasters Boom Lake Open, which he helped his bass club run for a number of years.
Rod is survived by his wife, Beckie; two sons, Roger (Sasha) Gaskill and James Gaskill; his daughter Candace Gaskill, and two grandchildren, Mason and Amara, as well as three brothers, Michael, David and Douglas Gaskill. He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
No funeral services are planned for Rod, as was his wish. Instead a memorial bass tournament will be held in his memory in August of next year.
