Guerdon A. Wallesverd

Guerdon A. Wallesverd, age 89, of Tomahawk, passed away Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at his home under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice. Guerdon was born Feb. 10, 1929, in Menominee, to the late Gustav and Alice (Carstensen) Wallesverd. He was married to Donna Slaton on Feb. 14, 1987; she survives.

Guerdon lived in Woodville, Wis. growing up. He was a 1947 graduate of Spring Valley High School and attended the University of Wisconsin River Falls. Following graduation, Guerdon entered the Air Force serving in the Korean War where he flew combat missions in the B-27. He retired as a Major in February of 1989. Guerdon also served in the Louisiana Air National Guard flying F-102 Jets. He flew Strategic Air Command during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After the military, he graduated from Tulane Law School and practiced law in Louisiana and Wisconsin for many years. He taught commercial law as an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin Stout. His passion for flying led him to an additional career as a commercial pilot for Eastern Airlines based out of Miami, Fla. Throughout his life, Guerdon lived in Louisiana and Florida and made Tomahawk his home the past 31 years. He was a devoted Christian and faithful member of the Northland Bible Church.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Wallesverd; his children, Richard Wallesverd, Christine (Paul) Spain, David Wallesverd, and Geoffrey Wallesverd; his sisters, Marian Braseth and Alice Boumeester, his sister-in-law, Evelyn Wallesverd; his grandchildren, Ashley and Ryan Butler, Leah, Trevar, Paige, Jessica, and Mark Wallesverd and his step-grandson, Nick (Alyssa) Borski; five stepchildren, Ellen Nelson, Jeff Slaton, Bruce Slaton, Theodore Slaton, and Karen (Rodney) Slaton.

Guerdon is further survived by numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Grady; his brother, John Wallesverd; and his stepdaughter, Jacqueline Slaton.

A memorial service for Guerdon Wallesverd with be held at a later date and announced at that time. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family. View Guerdon's obituary and leave online condolences at
