Marlene J. Hulbert
Marlene J. Hulbert, age 84, of Rhinelander, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018 at Friendly Village. She was born in Superior on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 1933, the daughter of Eli and Mary (Spitznagle) Stoich. She attended grade school in Superior and was a 1951 graduate of Superior Central High School. She had been employed as a secretary for the Cole Company and for the comptroller at Duluth Avionics.
Marlene moved to Miami, Florida, living there for six years and was employed by the Arthur Murray Dance Studio. She then moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where she was employed for three years as a bookkeeper.
Marlene was united in marriage to Robert M. Hulbert at St. Louis Catholic Church in Superior in June of 1962. The couple celebrated over 56 years of marriage. The couple moved to Rhinelander in 1964 and Marlene was then employed with Estabrook Insurance until 1973. From 1975 until 1994 Marlene was employed as a teacher's aid at West School in Rhinelander. She taught ballroom dancing at Nicolet College through the Senior Outreach Program and also taught line dancing for three years.
She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. Marlene through her lifetime enjoyed dancing, especially ballroom dancing. She also enjoyed traveling to the Gulf Coast, especially to New Orleans and spending time at the cabin in Lake Tomahawk. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Robert.
Also surviving are one sister, Phyllis Sayles of Superior and nephews Greg (Karen) Sayles of Superior, Gary Sayles of Superior, Todd (Jean) Sayles of Plymouth, Minn., Kerry (Lisa) Marvsich of Wayzata, Minn., and Troy (Terry) Marvsich of Eden Prairie, Minn., as well as her dog, Daisy May. Marlene's request was that there be no visitation or funeral service.
Robert would like to thank Ascension at Home Hospice, Friendly Village, and a special thank you to Mary Jo Whitford who was Marlene's caregiver for the past three years.
