Rhinelander native LeRoy Gordon Bettinger died at 3:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2018 at Madigan Army Hospital, Lakewood, Washington. He was born in Rhinelander on Feb. 20, 1932 to Earl and Rose (Nutt) Bettinger. An Army veteran of Korea and Vietnam, he traveled the world during and after his service to his country, but his heart remained in Wisconsin. He comes home to be buried at Forest Home Cemetery.
He is survived by his widow Kyoko, daughter Janet, son Tom and daughter-in-law Sue and their children Jaci and Dillon, and son Chris and daughter-in-law Mary and their children Ruby and Oliver.
Funeral services for LeRoy will be held on Monday, Sept. 3, 2018 at 11 a.m., with visitation from 10 a.m. until just prior to the services, all at the Carlson Funeral Home. Chaplain John Uhlarik will officiate.
