Bernard "Bernie" F. Bennett

Bernard "Bernie" F. Bennett, age 80, of Rhinelander, passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2018 at Seasons of Life in Woodruff. Bernie was born in Rhinelander on Feb. 13, 1938, the son of George F. and Bernice (Winchell) Bennett. Bernie attended Rhinelander High School. He was employed as a truck driver, car salesman, and retired from Lindgren RF Enclosures. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, canning and traveling but most of all he loved music and was an accomplished guitarist playing and singing for the Ridge Runners. Bernie will be remembered for his BBQ ribs and his chili. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Janet; two sons, Mark (Michelle) Bennett of Grafton, Eric (Sherri) Bennett of Rhinelander; daughter-in-law Molly Bennett of Reno, Nevada; three stepchildren, Ginger (Don) VanElls of Sugar Camp, Freeman (Mary) Bennett Jr. of Rhinelander, Keith (Theresa) Bennett of Rhinelander; three grandchildren, Stephanie Bennett, Anna Gauthier, Kelly Gauthier; three step-grandchildren, Mark and Mike VanElls, Trisha Bennett and two step-great-grandchildren, Kyra and Zoey Kruth. Also surviving are one brother, Dean (Karen) Bennett and a brother-in-law, Gene Osterberg.

Bernie is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Scott Bennett; sister, Janet Osterberg, one stepgrandson Jacob Bennett and very special friends Jim & Julie Volk of Wabeno. The visitation for Bernie will be held on Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at the Hildebrand Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the noon memorial service. Dn. Dick Meier will officiate. Immediately following the service, there will be a procession to Forest Home Cemetery for the Committal Service. Memorial contributions may be given to Seasons of Life, 8951 Woodruff Road, Woodruff, Wisconsin 54568.
