Billie Jean Herskorn

Billie Jean Herskorn, age 77, of Rhinelander, died Sept. 4, 2018, in Rhinelander. She was born March 7, 1941, in Rhinelander, to Edmund and Doris (Harrington) Lund. She attended schools in Rhinelander, graduating from RHS in 1959. She still has a monthly luncheon with her classmates.

Billie held many jobs throughout her lifetime. They included picking beans and potatoes, a summer of roofing, Globe Union in Milwaukee, the Rhinelander Brewery, Marplex, a paper route for the Daily News and finally the Rhinelander Paper Company. She was with the paper mill for over 26 years where she was very well respected by her co-workers. She was also the first woman to work in production at the mill and also served as a union steward and rep. Billie retired from the mill in 1998. Outside of her work, Billie had many interests. She enjoyed collecting Coca Cola memorabilia and old cars. She was a longtime member of the Antique Auto Club and volunteered with the Boy Scouts when her son was young. Billie loved to travel, especially the trips to south Texas, and she enjoyed all the people she met along the way. People enjoyed meeting her also. Billie, because of her many jobs and interests, could find something in common with almost everyone she met. She will be missed.

Billie is survived by her son Randall Herskorn Sr., grandchildren Randall Jr. and Porsche, sister Sandi (Brian) Tober, brother Greg (Peggy) Lund, nieces, nephews, former husband Robert Herskorn, other family and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

As Billie loved her rescue cats, her family would ask that all donations be made in her name to the Oneida County Humane Society. It was Billie's wish that her family hold a gathering. That gathering will be held at Pizza Haven from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15. You may leave your private condolences for the Herskorn family at The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is serving the Herskorn family.
