Clarice M. Winquist
Clarice M. Winquist, age 98 of Rhinelander, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, at Rennes Health and Rehab. She was born on March 19, 1920, in Rhinelander, to David and Anna (Wittke) Fell.
Clarice graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1938. She married her husband, George Winquist, and together they raised their family of three children. Clarice was primarily a homemaker for much of her life but was also a waitress at Onson's Inn Restaurant for over 20 years.
Clarice was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Mary Circle and the United Methodist Women. She was a volunteer with the St. Mary's Hospital Women's Auxiliary for 25 years, staffing the hospital gift shop and providing crocheted craft items for the shop. She was an avid card player and especially enjoyed Monday afternoon poker. For over 30 years, she enjoyed life at her camper at Running's Campground in Sugar Camp. Clarice will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Clarice is survived by her daughter, Kathleen "Kay" Hasal of Rhinelander; her son, Ron (Dawn) Winquist of Sugar Camp; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Winquist of Rhinelander; three grandchildren, Kim (Rocky Delap) Vandervest, Brian (Danielle) Winquist, and Tricia (William) Barr; four great-grandchildren, Nikki, Jessie, Aiden, and Drake; and four great-great-grandchildren, Morgan, Brody, Max and Marcus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George "Fuzzy" Winquist on Nov. 8, 1987; her son, Richard "Dick" Winquist; a son-in-law, Robert Hasal; a grandson, Keith Winquist; a brother, Charles (Jane) Fell; and her special friend, Clarence Skinner.
The funeral service for Clarice will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Wolf officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church. Inurnment will take place in Forest Home Cemetery. Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) is serving the family.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, support of a memorial established in Clarice's name would be appreciated and contributions may be directed in care of her family.
