Ann Margaret Hildebrand Murphy
Ann Margaret Hildebrand Murphy passed away March 2, 2019 at the Lutheran Home in Wauwatosa. Ann was born Oct. 20, 1932 in Rhinelander, the fourth child of Joseph and Cora Hildebrand. She grew up loving the Northwoods - skiing in the winter and swimming in the summer - and graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1950. Ann attended National College of Education, and managed a hat shop in Rhinelander before marrying Richard Murphy in 1954. They later divorced. She leaves behind Carolyn (Patrick) Feehan of Chevy Chase, Md., Robert (Wendy) of Sandia Park, N.M., Michael (Mary Jane) Murphy of North Aurora, Ill., Margaret (Mark) Lincoln of Batavia, Ill., and Jane (Don) Devine of Milwaukee.
Annie used her wonderful eye for detail working several jobs in the home décor and gift shop businesses. She brought her flare for decorating and love for primitive antiques to Hildebrand Antiques in Minocqua, where she worked with her sister Jean, and to Hildebrand Furniture Store in Rhinelander, where she ran a gift shop - deservedly named "Annie's."
Ann was preceded in death by her parents and by siblings Patrick, Jean, Philip, and Mary, and is survived by a brother, John. She was known and loved as "Annie" to her 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who also survive her: Daniel (Amy) Feehan, Caitlin Feehan, Saker Murphy, Lanner Murphy, Elizabeth (David) Holtzman, Michael Murphy Jr., Joseph Lincoln, Max Lincoln, Molly Devine, Addison Devine, Piper Devine, Conor Feehan and Declan Feehan.
A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
