Becky S. Butterfield

Becky S. Butterfield, 55 of Wallace, Mich. passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 7, 2019. She was born July 2, 1963 in Green Bay, to Hillis and the late Shirley (Slack) Wendt.

Becky was the first in her family to go on to further her education and she became a cosmetologist, then a licensed building contractor.

She was always happy to lend a hand with the many skills she had in her tool bag. She specialized in home renovations, especially in rebuilding older single family homes into multi-family apartments. Becky converted one into a small nursing home and ran it when her grandmother became too ill to stay at home. She was a longtime caregiver for many others as well.

Becky enjoyed growing vegetables in her garden and greenhouse. She also raised chickens and pork. Becky made pickles, jams and jellies, and raised bees and made bread then sold them from her home and at the Rhinelander and Mole Lake farmers markets.

Becky was also a seamstress and quilt maker and always the chef and hostess for holiday meals. She was a competent shade tree mechanic and cut and hauled firewood to heat her home for years.

Becky most loved to fish from small lakes to the Great Lakes, to her favorite trout streams of northern Wisconsin and the U.P. She was always radiant and sunny and uncomplicated and a joy to be around. Somehow amidst all this, she raised a lovely daughter as a single parent.

She will be missed greatly by Don Park, her companion.

Becky is survived by her daughter Jennifer (Jason) Cohrs; two grandchildren Jordan and Justin; boyfriend Don Park; father Hillis Wendt; three brothers Edward and Michael Wendt and Larry (Tracy) Wendt and two sisters Brenda (Greg) and Crystal Wendt.

Becky was preceded in death by her mother Shirley Wendt and her brother Kevin Wendt.

There will be a celebration of life for Becky at a later date.

Anderson-Diehm Funeral Home is assisting the family.
