Connie Sue Hofman

Connie Sue Hofman passed away peacefully April 13, 2019 at Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Rhinelander. As she passed away she grew her angel wings and fluttered her way to Heaven. Connie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rhinelander all her life.

Connie was born in Ironwood, Michigan in 1951 and moved to Rhinelander at the age of five. She attended West Side Elementary School and graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1969.

Connie and Max Hofman were united in Marriage July, 2, 1988, after a long courtship.

Connie was a person that lived life to its fullest. Connie's love of life was shared by Max. She had several passions including tennis, Geocaching and travel. Her biggest passion was tennis. There were times if the weather brought an unusual warm spell before the snow melted, she would shovel the snow off a tennis court and call a friend to play. In later years spending winters in Bonita Springs Florida, where the courts were always available, brought her great happiness. She took a trip to China with Max in 1991 and was hooked on travel ever since, returning to China four more times. Among other travel adventures were trips to Thailand, Vietnam, Galapagos Islands, Kenya, Tibet, Myanmar and eleven other foreign countries.

Connie loved the outdoors, her many friends and any activity that brought her out of the house. Connie and Max completed more than 10,200 Geocaches throughout all 50 of our United States. Walks with friends, canoeing, and spending time at the family cottage in Lake Tomahawk were among other activities which Connie enjoyed greatly.

Connie worked at the Associated Bank (nee First National Bank of Rhinelander) for 31 years. She advanced to the positions of Branch Manager at the Lake Tomahawk Branch, on to bank auditor and a further promotion to Compliance Officer.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents Newell and Bonita Hammel and sister Vickie Norvell. She is survived by her husband Max and her cousin Roger Marshall.

There will be a visitation at the First Methodist Church of Rhinelander from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, April 20, 2019 with a service and luncheon to follow.

Connie's memory will be honored by a bench to be provided to the local tennis courts. Contributions to this memory can be made to her family.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Connie was such a beautiful person and so much fun to be around. So many happy times at the bank. We will miss her at our monthly luncheons too.

This is so saddening and heartbreaking. This is such a great loss to the Rhinelander Community. Connie was so warm, gregarious and funny. She made everyone feel welcome. If there ever was a Tennis Titan, it was Connie. Connie made you feel like a million bucks. I wish she was still here.
