Vernon J. Stefonek
Vernon J. Stefonek, 73, a Sugar Camp resident passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Rhinelander on Feb. 4, 1946, the son of Peter J. and Rose M. (Lorbetski) Stefonek. After graduating from grade school, Vernon then attended and graduated from Waukesha High School. He completed college and enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country for four years. Vernon was employed with the State of Wisconsin, Department of Transportation, as a computer draftsman for 25 years. He was a member of St. Kunegunda of Poland Catholic Church. Vernon was an avid golfer and enjoyed ice fishing, deer hunting, gardening (vegetable and flower) and outdoor sports.
He will be dearly missed by his sister, Celeste Blattler of Lewiston, Idaho; brother, Randy Stefonek of Sugar Camp, sister, Noreen (Ronald) Catherson of Las Cruces, New Mexico; one aunt, Evelyn Wendorf of Portage, and a special friend, Kathleen Haker of Rhinelander. Also surviving are many cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and numerous other family members.
The visitation for Vernon will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at St. Kunegunda of Poland Catholic Church, located at 6895 State Road 17, Sugar Camp, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Memorial Mass. Fr. Bala Allam will be officiating. Inurnment will immediately follow the memorial mass in the church cemetery. Hildebrand Funeral Home & Cremation Specialists, 24 E.
