Heinz Rauer

Heinz Rauer, age 93, of Rhinelander, died Sept. 13, 2019, at his home. He was born in Schweidnitz, Germany on May 9, 1926. Before coming to the United States, Heinz married the former Ursula Paetzel.

Heinz, Ursula and their family then immigrated to the United States, specifically Chicago, on Oct. 23, 1956. Heinz worked in the Chicago area as a draftsman in steel fabrication.

In the late 1980s Heinz and Ursula moved to Rhinelander and have lived here since. They enjoyed many years of retirement in the Northwoods.

Ursula preceded Heinz in death on July 31, 2015. God blessed them with over 67 years of marriage.

Heinz had a strong faith in God. He and Ursula were longtime members of the St. Mark Lutheran Church in Rhinelander. They loved their church and their church family.

People who knew Heinz well, knew they could look forward to a strong handshake, a hug and a sincere "how are you" when seeing Heinz. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Heinz is survived by his children, Madeline (Chris) Bader, Max (Karen) Rauer and Manfred (Mary) Rauer; his five grandchildren Nicholas (Nicole) Rauer, Elizabeth (Scott) Thompson, Emily (Jason) Moes, Andrea (Garrett) Gronberg and Jesse Bader; his four great- grandchildren Henry, Gavin, Crosby and Claire; his sister Lilo Schwinge, sister-in-law Annemarie Hansohm, other family and many friends. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Gerda Shaft.

A memorial service will be held for Heinz at 11 a.m. Oct. 26, 2019 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Rhinelander with Rev. Richard Miller Officiating. A visitation will take place from 9 a.m. until just prior to the service also at the St Mark Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in Heinz' name and any considerations may be directed to his family.

The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is serving the Rauer family.
