Esther Mae Gauthier
Esther Mae Gauthier, age 82 of Rhinelander, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019 at Rennes Health and Rehab in Rhinelander. Esther was born Oct. 10, 1937, in Horicon, to Walter and Louise (Binder) Ruhkick.
Esther was 10 when she was sent to live with other family members and ended up moving from Horicon to Milwaukee to Cudahy, and finally Rhinelander, during this time attending five different schools. After her schooling, Esther met Lloyd Gauthier Sr. on Easter Sunday and shortly after was married for 46 years. During that time Esther worked at Onson's Inn and Country Kitchen Restaurant along with taking care of her family.
Esther enjoyed many things like talking on the phone, especially with her sister. She was always willing to try any game, and some of her favorites were Yahtzee, Catch Phrase, baseball with her children, hide and seek, Bunco, Bingo and many others. Esther and Lloyd were long time dartball players and had many trophies to show for it. She was always up for a good time and she never passed up the opportunity to participate in the chicken dance.
Esther is survived by her daughters Susan Gauthier, Janet (Dan) Newby, both of Rhinelander; sons Robert (Pamela) Gauthier of Rhinelander, Lloyd (Kim) Gauthier of Rhinelander, Patrick Gauthier of Arbor Vitae; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brother Donald Ruhkick of Milwaukee, other family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Sr., daughter Tammy Marie Gauthier, and her special friend Lillian.
A memorial service for Esther is set for 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019 at Grace Foursquare Church in Rhinelander with a visitation to be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
