Samuel "Sam" M. Hoffhein Sr.

Samuel "Sam" M. Hoffhein Sr., 62 of Monico, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019 in Fergus Falls, Minn.

He was born in Germany on Wednesday, June 5, 1957 to George and Dory (Gilman) Hoffhein. Sam was an Army Brat living overseas and stateside. He moved to Rhinelander in 1988, and was united in marriage on Oct. 6, 1995 to Holly A. Bradley. They have lived in Monico since 1998. Sam and Holly have been partners in S & H Trucking since 2002. Sam loved his black labs and you could always find one of them riding in the truck with him.

When Sam was home you could find him riding his Harley, listening to old time country music, watching country western movies or enjoying dessert, any kind of dessert! He also enjoyed listening to Irish music, especially the Clancy Brothers, but most of all Sam enjoyed getting together with family.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Holly Bradley-Hoffhein; one son, Samuel M. Hoffhein Jr. of Tennessee; mother, Dory Hoffhein; two sisters, Kim (Jeff) Haenel, Miki (Mike) Walker; mother-in-law, Jenny Bradley; sisters-in-law, Jill, Nikki and Joi; brothers-in-law Jack and Lee. Also surviving are his dogs, Grace and Rowan; nieces Renee Hoffhein (Mike Meyers) and Andrea Walker; nephews Josh and Matthew Walker; four great-nieces and one great-nephew. Sam is further survived by aunts, an uncle, cousins and other nieces, nephews and relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Hoffhein and an infant brother, Joseph C. Hoffhein.

The visitation for Sam will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019 at the Hildebrand Funeral Home, 24 E. Davenport Street, from 10 a.m. until the noon funeral service. Dn. Michael Harvey will be officiating. Immediately following the service there will be a procession to Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery for the Committal Service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Sam and for the special care given to his dog Grace, please make checks payable to the  "Angel Fund", Companion Animal Hospital (1505 W. Lincoln Avenue, Fergus Falls, Minnesota, 56537).  The Companion Animal Hospital provided housing, Medical Care and loving compassion to Sam's truck mate, Grace, following Sam's passing.
