Deloris was born in Rhinelander to James Dewey Lavender and Stella (Scovern) Lavender.
She is survived by her sister Donna (Lavender) Baker of Rhinelander; her children: Daniel Edward Fish of Longview, Wash., Joann Carol (Fish) Hill of Scottsdale, Ariz., Janice Kay (Fish) Ackels of Howard, Colo., William Robert Fish of Las Vegas; grandsons: Samuel Edward Fish of San Diego, Calif., Michael Knittle of San Diego, Calif. and Brian Hill of Scottsdale, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Dewey and Stella Lavender; her brothers, William Lavender and Robert Lavender Sr. and her sister Bonnie (Lavender) Fish.
The story she repeated to her children the most was that she graduated from a teacher's college in Wisconsin and taught first through eighth grades in a one-room schoolhouse in Gagen. The schoolhouse had no plumbing. Her sister Bonnie had married Lloyd Fish and they were living in Gagen. Lloyd's brother Edward was still in the Army at the end of World War II and they would write. Edward wrote back that he was coming back to the states and he was going to marry that schoolteacher. He did just that. Still in the Army they were stationed at Ft. Lewis, Wash. where they had their first child. When Edward got out of the Army, they moved to Gagen and he was then later called up to the Army again for Korea.
They later moved to Santee, Calif. to be near their children. After Edward passed and Deloris started to be unable to keep up with things, she moved in with her son in Poway, Calif., and later moved to Longview, Wash.
