Loreen J. Lomax

Loreen J. Lomax, age 56, of Rhinelander, died on April 2, 2020 at Rennes Health and Rehab in Rhinelander. She was born on Jan. 10, 1964, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Leon and Sylvia (Diel) Lomax.

Loreen received her BA degree from Cal-State University Bakersfield in Archaeology and her MA Humanities from Cal-State University Dominguez Hills.

Loreen was employed by the U.S. Forest Service. She started her career with the U.S. Forest Service in 1992 as the Archaeologist for the Cannell Meadow Ranger District-Sequoia NF and became the South Forest Archaeologist on SQNFF in 1994. She was the Heritage Program Manager for the Ottawa NF (2002-2009), Los Padres NF (2009-2016) and finished her wonderful career on the Chequamegon-Nicolet NF (2016-2018). She had looked forward to continue her studies of the archaeology of the State of Wisconsin. This would have allowed her to be closer to family and friends in Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Loreen was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rhinelander and she loved her church family. She enjoyed living in the Northwoods of Wisconsin and all the outdoor activities it offered.

Survivors include her mother, her sisters Sylvia "Kay" Lattin, Suzi Lomax and Deanna (Henry) Lomax-Pulliam, her brother David Lomax and her nephew David Pulliam, other family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father.

Loreen will be laid to rest in the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery. Due to the present situation visitation and services will be held later at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
