Carol S. Berkebill

Carol S. Berkebill, age 84, of Peshtigo, formerly of Rhinelander, died June 6, 2020 at Rennes Health and Rehab in Peshtigo.

Carol was born on Nov. 14, 1935, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Carl and Dorothy Aplin.

Carol grew up in Detroit and attended schools there, graduating from high school in 1952. She married Frederick Berkebill on April 4, 1953. They raised their family in Detroit until moving to Arkansas in 1981 where they lived until 1991. While in Detroit, Carol was also able to travel all around the world as a result of Fred's employment. In 1991 the family moved to Rhinelander where they owned and operated the Moen's Lake Lodge and Campground. It was truly a family affair which became instantly popular due to their Friday night fish fry. In 2007 they sold the lodge and campground and moved to the Marinette area where she has lived since. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling and camping.

Everything about Carol revolved around her family. She was a devoted wife, mom and grandma. She was a strong and generous lady who always looked for the bright side of things. She had some tough times throughout her life, but always made the best of them and kept her sense of humor right to the end. She was a rock for her family and an independent soul who lived and died on her own terms.

Carol is survived by her daughter Laura Berkebill, her sons David (Jan) Berkebill, John (Carol) Berkebill, Mark (Marilyn) Berkebill and Matthew (Janet) Berkebill, her 13 grandchildren, her 17 great-grandchildren, her sisters Patricia (Thomas) Renaud, Nancy (Junior) Lambert, Marlene McCormick and Darleen Carey, her brothers Daniel Guth and Rod (Sue) Guth, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Frederick, her son Ron, her granddaughter Markie Ann, her sister Mae Wherry and her parents.

Given the present situation private family services will be held at the Carlson Funeral Home with Chaplain John Uhlarik officiating. Interment will follow in the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery. You may leave your private condolences for the Berkebil family at
