Leo J. Cure
Leo J. Cure of Harshaw, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born on Sept. 7, 1939, in Blue Island, Ill., to Leo R. and Anna Cure.
Leo is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sandra (Eades); his daughter, Connie (David) Johns of Lisle, Ill., two grandchildren: Allison and Nicholas Johns also of Lisle, Ill.
Also surviving are two sisters, Patricia (Dennis) Roberts of Arizona, Robbie Brown of Montana and one brother, Anthony Cure of Michigan. Leo is further survived by two very special people that both he and his wife considered their "Adoptive Children": Jesse Jensen of Arkansas and Dorothy Windorff of Rhinelander and a very special friend, Ed England of Rhinelander.
Leo spent much of his life in Harshaw, where he loved being the most. He loved the outdoors, where he could observe the wildlife.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman until illness slowed him down.
Although he spent most of his working life in Illinois, as a heavy equipment operator for the Electrical Union I.B.E.W. Local 9, Chicago for 25 years, Leo was forced to take an early retirement from a work-related accident at the age of 50. He and Sandy then moved back to Harshaw. They decided to start traveling by motorhome around the country during wintertime to warmer locations. They continued to travel for 27 years.
As much as Leo loved Harshaw, he was not fond of the cold winters in his later years.
As per Leo's wishes, there will be no services or memorials.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hildebrand Funeral Home & Cremation Specialists, 24 E. Davenport Street, Rhinelander, Wisconsin 54501, 715-365-4343. You are invited to sign the guestbook, leave a photo or an online condolence at www.hildebrandrussfh.com
