Phillip J. Wrbelis, born to Stanley and Velma Wreblis on Oct. 17, 1933 in Gary, Ind., had a very long life until July 1, 2020. Phil was pushing 87 years old and living in Eureka, Mont. when he died. He was preceded in death by Stan and Velma, brother James of Alaska, uncle Ed & aunt Bernice and others.
Phil was a U.S. Marine around Korea time. He was working at Rhinelander Paper Company getting nowhere at $1.78 per hr. when he loaded the car with his son, daughter and wife (Jane Bowman), took his 2-week vacation and left for Montana.
Before they got settled in, he went fishing and caught two cutthroat trout, 21 & 22 inches, cut vacation short, ran back to Rhinelander, sold his home and took the family back to Montana. He was there for several years - poor pay - but came back to Rhinelander and built nice log home in McNaughton where he raised son Dean and daughter Dawn. Then he started selling insurance for Schuppler Agency as manager for 20 years. Eventually, he sold everything and headed back to northwestern Montana to his end.
Phil is survived by his brothers Charlie (Julie), Mike (Dory) and sisters Joan (Jack) Groff and Mary (Fred) Caya.
