How do you sum up someone's life in just a couple of paragraphs? How do you express your appreciation and love in what amounts to really so few words?
Janice may have seemed to have lived a simple life, but really what she did was raise a family through many obstacles. She was a pillar of strength and taught her kids how to overcome life's obstacles and persevere. As we reflect on Janice's life, one cannot help but realize that she was a strong, resourceful and resilient woman. She loved her children and doted on her grandchildren. Janice was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and a Den mother for boy scouts. She sewed costumes for Halloween and plays and was our silent cheerleader. Janice enjoyed watching her grandchildren play soccer, basketball, football, tennis, and listen to their band concerts. Later she loved watching her first great-grandchild's dance recitals for as long as she could and when she could no longer watch her in person, she enjoyed watching her on video. Some of you may know that her grandchildren affectionately called her "Bubba", it definitely made her stand out in a crowd of grandparents. She also loved gardening and her flowers were showstoppers. Every spring and summer, Janice spent long hours outside making her flowerbeds look just right. Janice loved to cook and no one ever left her home hungry. One of her favorite things was to gather the family together, get out the good dishes and entertain. Janice's children will say she made the best potato salad ever.
Janice was the 6th of 7 girls and her older sisters always took care of her. Janice is the last of "the Anderson sisters" to leave this world and we know they are waiting for her to join them in heaven. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and six sisters. Janice is survived by her children Mary Fetzer (Larry), Scott Voigt (Ann), Linda Conlon (Sean), and Craig Voigt (Jenny). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Megan (Brent), Phillip, Brandon (Amber), Amanda, Nicholas, Mathew, Megan (Jacob), Natasha (Justin), Alison, Alex, Morgan (Emily), Emily, Jaylin and eight great-grandchildren.
Janice will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but our memories and love will live forever.
A visitation for Janice will be held on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2020 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home.
Masks will be required for all in attendance and proper distancing will be observed.
