Mary L. Stenstrom, age 93, died peacefully in her sleep on Aug. 25 while under hospice care.
She was born on Oct. 28, 1926, in Chicago, to Earl and Thelma Bleimehl. After graduating from school, she met her future husband while traveling on a Greyhound bus. On June 15, 1946 she married Edward Stenstrom.
They moved to Rhinelander in 1947 where they raised their family of three children. She and Edward enjoyed 65 years of marriage together.
She was a stay-at-home mother and only went to work after her children were older. She worked in the office of Murphy Motor Freight for several years.
She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an active member of the Rhinelander Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses from 1976 until her death.
Mary is survived by three children, son David (Reta) of South Portland, Maine; son Dennis (Nancy) of Tennessee; and Janet (Douglas) Mueller of Dorchester, Wis.; along with grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
In addition she is survived by her special caregivers, Jayne Stenstrom and Pat Mattioli.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Edward, an infant son Daniel, her parents and a brother James Bleimehl.
In lieu of ﬂowers, donations may be sent to Ascension Hospice Care. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no funeral services, instead there will be a virtual service via Zoom at a later date for friends and family.
