Ann Manning was born in Eagle River on July 17, 1921 to Peter and Katherine Miazga. Later in that same year her family moved to Rhinelander where she lived the rest of her life. She attended schools in Rhinelander and graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1939. On Oct. 7, 1942, Ann was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald Manning.
She worked at the First National Bank for 33 years, retiring in April of 1982. Ann later worked in the hot lunch program at Rhinelander Catholic Central and loved being with the young children.
Ann is survived by two children, Daniel of Rhinelander and Connie (Nick) Hoagland of Sun Prairie; three grandchildren: Paul (Tonya) Manning, Jacob and Ryan (Shandar) Hoagland and five great-grandchildren: Jayden, Jonathan, Stella, Alex and Matthew. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald Manning, three sisters: Helen Gilley, Elizabeth Guthneck and Sr. Zita Miazga, and four brothers: Henry, Joe, Stanley and John Miazga.
Ann was very active in St. Mary's Parish and St. Mary's Women's Club, holding many of the offices. She was Secretary of the Oneida County Cancer Society for five years and also belonged to the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, and had donated many hours to the Nativity of Our Lord Thrift Shop. For 20 years, Ann was a member of the City of Rhinelander Election Board.
Ann will be remembered for being a kind, caring person and lived life to the fullest.
Memorial contributions in memory and in honor of Ann may be given to Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Grade School, 105 S. Pelham Street, Rhinelander, Wisconsin 54501.
A Celebration of Ann's Life will take place at a later date.
