Barbara Ann Johnson

Barbara Ann Johnson, age 72, of Rhinelander, died on Jan. 20, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 12, 1948, in Rhinelander, the daughter of George and Evelyn (Skowronski) Kurilla. She attended schools in Rhinelander, graduating from Rhinelander High School in 1966.

Barb married Douglas Johnson on Dec. 9, 1967, in Rhinelander, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 2014. They were blessed with 46 years of marriage.

Earlier in life Barb had worked at a couple of different jobs. She was employed by the Tasty Bakery for a number of years, then for Pat Loduha Catering and then at Trig's Deli. She was an accomplished calligrapher and she produced the labels and promotional items for the Von Stiehl Winery in Rhinelander for many years.

In Barb's spare time she enjoyed playing pool, bowling, fishing in Canada with her husband and a little bit of gambling, once in a while.

Barb is survived by her daughter Teresa (Douglas) Powell, her son Christopher Johnson, her granddaughter Jennifer (Michael) Ford, her sisters Kay (Robert) Walkowski and Margaret Kurilla, her brothers Timothy Kurilla, John (Debra) Kurilla and Jeffrey Kurilla, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

In addition to her husband, Barb was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Thomas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021 at noon at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic with Father Chris Kemp officiating. Attendance will be limited due to the pandemic and all in attendance will be required to observe social distancing and will be required to wear a mask. Interment will follow the services in the Union Grove Cemetery in Cassian.

You may leave your private condolences for the Johnson family at The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is serving Barbara's family.
