Geraldine C. Urbonya, 82, of the Town of Pine Lake, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021 at Rennes Health & Rehab Center with her family at her side and under the care of Compassus Northern Wisconsin Hospice.
Geraldine was born on May 25, 1939, in Janesville, to Glenn and Frances (Nee) Wolfe. She was raised in Beloit, where she attended Brother Dutton Grade School and Beloit Catholic High School. She met her childhood sweetheart and lifelong partner Terance L. Urbonya in fourth grade. The couple were married on May 4, 1957 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. They made their home in Beloit, living there for 43 years. During this time, Geraldine was employed at the Grand Avenue Pharmacy, was a homemaker and owned the Pine Tree Doll Company for 15 years.
Geraldine and Terance moved to Rhinelander in 2001.
Geraldine was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, Rhinelander Quilters and Madison Doll Clubs.
She enjoyed sewing and quilting and took great pride in teaching quilting to many ladies in the Rhinelander area. She was also an avid scuba diver, enjoying this hobby throughout Wisconsin and Lake Superior. Other interests included camping, canoeing, fishing, snowshoeing and exploring the wilderness.
Surviving is her husband of exactly 64 years and seven months, Terance; three daughters: Stacy (David) Golfetto of Farmington Hills, Mich., and Stephanie Boismenue of Lake Tomahawk; three grandchildren, Michael and Katie Golfetto and Shane Harlson; brother Glenn Wolfe and Barb Schmidke of Madison, and a sister, Pat (Randy) Walker of Chippewa Falls. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, James (Joy) Wolfe.
A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Northwoods National Cemetery in Harshaw.
Geraldine's family would like to thank the staff at Compassus Northern Wisconsin Hospice and Rennes Health & Rehab Center for all the care and compassion given to Geraldine and her family.
