Steve A. Woods

Steve A. Woods, age 71, of Harshaw, died on April 2, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Jan. 18,1951, in Columbia, Mo., the son of Leonard and Jean (Workman) Woods.

After being born in Columbia, Steve's family moved and eventually ended up in Green Bay. He graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1969. He then served his country in Vietnam as a member of the United States Marine Corp from 1969 to 1971. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Green Bay and attended UW Green Bay graduating with a BS degree in 1974. He then went on to Texas A & M where he received his master's degree in 1977.

Steve married the love of his life, Carol Klapper, on June 16, 1973 in Green Bay. God blessed them with nearly 50 years of marriage. They lived in Texas for a couple of years, then Tomahawk for 4 years and then made their home in Harshaw where they have lived for well over 30 years. He loved their home and their spot in the woods. Until his retirement in 2011, he was employed as a grant writer for numerous Tribes throughout the State of Wisconsin.

Steve enjoyed anything outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt and cut firewood. He loved to read and learn anything he could. He also enjoyed playing chess. He enjoyed watching football and was a big Green Bay Packers fan.

He was preceded in death by an infant son and his parents.
