Alex J. Mankoski

Alex J. Mankoski, age 82, of Rhinelander, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022, under the care of his family and Compassus Hospice. He was born in Ironwood, Mich., on Aug. 23, 1939, to the late Alex Mankoski and Agnes Jenkins.

Alex is survived by his daughter, Leanne Reed, of Watertown, Tenn., his grandchildren, Sarah (Mark, Jr.) Tidwell, of Shelbyville, Tenn., Eligha Reed, III, of Watertown, and Joseph Mankoski (fiancé Brittany Bradbury), of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; his great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Nick, and Sammy; and his siblings, Loretta Recha of Rhinelander, Judy Kibler of Wausau, Violet Gulrich of Denton, Texas, and Lenny Ratliff of Wausau; his nephews, Mark (Cindy), Rockne, and Jeff (Robin), in addition to several other nieces and nephews.

Alex is further survived by the love of his life, Madeline Knapp, and her children, Leslie and Scott.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Agnes; his son, Alex Mankoski; his brother, Ricky; and his sisters, Norma, Carol, Shirley, and Janet.

The family wanted to share this poem:

God looked around his garden and found an empty place,

He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face.

He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest.

God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain.

He knew that you would never get well on earth again.

He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb.

So He closed your weary eyelids and whispered, 'Peace be thine'.

It broke our hearts to lose you but you didn't go alone,

for part of us went with you the day God called you home.

In accordance with Alex's wishes, no formal services will be held. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family. You may view Alex's obituary and leave online condolences at generationsfuneral.com.
