Mark Lee Mraz

Mark Lee Mraz, age 61, of Rhinelander, died on June 23, 2022. He was born on March 3,1961, in Milwaukee, and was the son of Lawrence "Larry" and Betty (Schuppler) Mraz.

Mark was raised in Rhinelander and learned to snow ski at the age of 3 which is how he eventually got his nickname "Boomer" from his love of building ski jumps at Camp 10 and crashing (and breaking many pairs of skis) while trying tricks off those jumps. He was a member of the swim club for several years (so fun to look through his ribbons and watch him swim in family movies). He loved to water ski, kneeboard and was an expert "barefooter." He earned a 2nd degree black belt in Karate. He especially enjoyed camping and boating on the family cabin cruiser and many other boats, and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad Larry.

Mark enlisted in the Army in 1979 where he spent four years specializing in rappelling out of helicopters while stationed in Colorado, Germany and Kentucky. After the Army he worked alongside his father Larry learning and mastering all aspects of the builder trade. He enjoyed his Skeeter fishing boat where he spent many hours boating and fishing with friends. He found great enjoyment in gardening, cooking, grilling and smoking meats, and hanging; pots of flowers, bird feeders and hummingbird feeders. He loved spending time with his grandsons and their dog, Lady.

He truly enjoyed being outside and spending time around the fire with his family and friends.

Mark is survived by his children Alisha Mraz and Tyler Norton, his grandchildren Brentin Kasmarek, Teagon Mraz and Domanic McCarty, his 94-year-old mother Betty Mraz, his sister Mary Ann (George) Baker, and his nephew Benjamin Baker. He was preceded in death by his father Larry Mraz and his grandson Gavin Kasmarek.

A celebration of Mark's life will be held on Sunday, Aug. 14 at 1 p.m. at the Hodag Park boat launch shelter. You may leave your private condolences for Mark's family at www.carlsonfh.com.

The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is serving the Mraz family.
