Ervin Fred Ory

Ervin Fred Ory, age 79, of Pelican Lake, died on Aug. 10, 2022, at his home, with his loving family at his side. He was born on March 27, 1943, in Enterprise, the son of Frank and Elsie (Meister) Ory. He attended schools there and then moved to Oshkosh where he worked for Tecumseh for a number of years. He eventually returned to the family homestead with his wife of 26 years and their three daughters. It was then that he went to work in the logging business.

He owned and operated a pulp truck for a few years and then worked for his brother Frank, the Vozkas and the Sacketts until his retirement. Logging was in the Ory family's blood. Ervin had a chainsaw in his hands at the age of 13 and his proudest moment came when he felled a 48-inch diameter Oak on Five Cent Road in Langlade County.

Ervin loved pets. He always had two to three cats and he preferred the long hair breeds, numerous hummingbird feeders and a large piranha named Oscar. His last pet was his white Pomeranian "Chewie."

Ervin had many other interests. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, driving old back roads and logging roads. In his later years, he gardened and was known for his large kohlorabi, his seven-day crock pickles and his refrigerator pickles. He said he had "the sweetest tomato he had ever had," this past July.

Ervin is survived by his daughters Melanie Ory, Tiffany Hall and Valerie Ory, his grandchildren Christian (Erin) Zander, Jacqelyn Guth, Haleen Guth, Mikayla, Abraham, Fern and Charlotte Hall, and McKenna Nash, his great-grandchildren Zoey and Calvin, his sister Betty Feustel, his brother Allen Ory, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Mildred Ory and Joanne Hirman, and his brothers Frank and Joe Ory.

Private family services for Ervin will be held at a later date. You may leave your private condolences for the Ory family at www.carlsonfh.com. The family would also like to acknowledge Compassus Hospice for the wonderful care they gave their father.

The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is serving the Ory family.
