Michael Jack "Mike" Budreau

Michael Jack "Mike" Budreau, 67, of Rhinelander, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, at Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital.

Mike was born in Rhinelander on March 6, 1955, to Jack D. and Gloria J. (Radue) Budreau. He was raised in Rhinelander and was a 1973 graduate of Rhinelander High School. At a very early age Mike knew that he wanted to pursue a career in the food industry. This began in his teen years where he began as a busser at Pinewood Lodge. Upon graduating from high school Mike took culinary arts classes. This would lead him to work at the Fireside Restaurant, the Rusty Nail, and the Rhinelander Café and Pub. He fulfilled his dream of owning his own restaurant. In 1996 Mike purchased a restaurant renaming it Budreau's Backwater Restaurant. He owned the restaurant until 2007. The restaurant was well known for its amazing soups and prime rib.

For the past 12 years Michael has been an Assistant Manager at Wagner's Shell Service Station, being employed there since 2012.

Mike enjoyed traveling to Florida and his plan was to retire to Key West. Though his true love was the Northwoods of Wisconsin.

Michael truly enjoyed helping others.

He will be dearly missed by his siblings, Brian Budreau of Fond du Lac, Jeffrey Budreau of Oshkosh and Kay Budreau of Beaver Dam. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and special friends, Debra (Rich) Dietz, Lisa Nelson Beckley, Ginny Stefanez, Sandy Mode, Cheri Carley-Miller and Jeff Zimmerman. Mike is further survived by all the friends and customers who he met and served at his restaurant and at Wagner's Shell for the past 12 years.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Gloria and Jack Budreau, sister, Christine Budreau, his black Lab, Chico, his maternal and paternal grandparents and by aunts and uncles.

The visitation for Mike will take place on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, at the Hildebrand Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until the 3 p.m. service. Chaplain John Uhlarik will officiate.

Immediately following the services, everyone is invited to join the family at Cabaret Cove located at 1540 Pueblo Drive, Rhinelander to Celebrate Mike's life with hors d'oeuvres, snacks, and fond memories.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hildebrand Funeral Home & Cremation Specialists, 24 E. Davenport Street, Rhinelander, Wisconsin 54501, 715-365-4343. Everyone is invited to sign the guestbook or leave an online condolence at www.hildebrandrussfh.com.
