Doralene "Dory" Carol Hoffhein

Doralene "Dory" Hoffhein, of Rhinelander, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022, at the age of 84. Dory was born in Rhinelander on April 12, 1938.

Dory graduated high school in Rhinelander. She was united in marriage to George Hoffhein on Feb. 18, 1956. During their 39 years of marriage, Dory and George were brought to many places around the globe due to George's service in the Army. Dory especially loved Germany and Hawaii.

Dory, along with George, owned and operated both the Fenlon Café and Lounge and The Garden of Eatin' in Rhinelander for more than 30 years upon returning to Rhinelander in 1985. Dory loved to stay busy in the community; she helped charter the Harmony Lions Club, one of the first women's Lions Association Clubs in the area. She also helped to organize and was instrumental in the planning of the city-wide Easter Egg Hunt and the early years of Oktoberfest.

Dory enjoyed golfing, boating, and spending time with her family, friends, and her beloved dog, Izzy.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George; parents, Malvern, and Viola Meisler; siblings, Robert, Joyce, Beverly, Collin, and an infant brother Jeffery; first born son, Samuel, and an infant son, Joe.

She is survived by daughters Kim (Jeff) Haenel, Miki (Mike) Walker; grandchildren, Renee (Mike Meyers), Samuel Jr., Joshua, Matthew, and Andrea; great-grandchildren, Jake, Morgan, Isaac, Hailey, and Adaline; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dory's visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Hildebrand Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, located at 125 E. King Street at 11:30 a.m. Fr. Chris Kemp will officiate. All that knew Dory are welcome to attend.

Immediately following the mass, there will be a procession to Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dory's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.

A special thank you for the compassionate care that Compassus Hospice provided for Dory.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hildebrand Funeral Home & Cremation Specialists, 24 E. Davenport Street, Rhinelander, Wisconsin, 54501, 715-365-4343. Everyone is invited to sign the guestbook or leave an online condolence at www.hildebrandrussfh.com.
