Clarissa Mae Kupczak

Clarissa Mae Kupczak, 96, of Sugar Camp, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Feb. 8, 2023. She was born in Chicago on Sept. 20, 1926, the daughter of Paul and Gertrude (Szumski) Predenkiewcz. Clare married Dan Kupczak in 1947 and they were blessed with over 40 years of marriage. They vacationed on Jennie Webber Lake in Sugar Camp and purchased property in 1951. In 1973 they moved to the area and started Cameo Kitchens in Rhinelander. Clare was also employed by the Oneida County Senior Center as Transportation Coordinator. She started in that position in 1982 and was employed for 18 years, retiring in 1991 at the age of 75.

Clare was a member of the St. Kunegunda Catholic Church and served for many years on the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Rhinelander Woman's Club and the Rhinelander Lioness Club. She enjoyed attending the Sugar Camp Widows Luncheon and looked forward to catching up with all of her friends there. Her time spent with her children and grandchildren was special. She liked baking pies and breads, working in her yard and playing horseshoes for Maples Bar in Sugar Camp. She had won several medals in Wisconsin Senior Olympics in that sport.

Clarissa is survived by her children, Ken Kupczak, Valerie Kupczak-Rios (Henry), Joan Hartmann (Michael), Jennifer Betker (John), David Kupczak and James Kupczak (Patricia), her grandchildren Bradley, Christopher, Anna, Samuel, Daniel, Jessica, Lee, and Morgan, nine great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, other family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel on Dec. 8, 1988, her son Thomas on May 11, 2015, her parents, her sister Rose and her brother Paul.

Visitation for Clarissa will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, with a Mass of Christian Burial following at noon, all at the St. Kunegunda Catholic Church in Sugar Camp. Father Rich Rhinehart will be officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Kunegunda Catholic Cemetery. You may leave your private condolences for the Kupczak family at http://www.carlsonfh.
