Bernice A. Gaber

Bernice A. Gaber, age 88, of Rhinelander, died on March 10, 2023 at the Rennes Health and Rehab in Rhinelander. She was born on April 16, 1934, in Ripon, the daughter of Stanish and Helen (Seabul) Pralat.

Bernice was raised in Ripon and attended schools there, graduating from Ripon High School in 1952. After her schooling she was employed as a secretary by Ripon Knitting. On Jan. 15, 1955 she married Eugene "Gene" Gaber in Ripon and God blessed them with over 68 years together and four wonderful children. In 1956 they moved to Rhinelander where they have lived since. They owned and operated Gaber Electric, Inc, and Bernice served as secretary and bookkeeper for the business until her and Gene's retirement.

Bernice and her family had a strong faith in their Lord and Savior. She served him as a longtime member of the St. Mary's/ Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church and was also member of their women's club. She also served the Rhinelander community as a volunteer at the hospital's gift shop for more than 15 years and for Easter Seals for many years.

Bernice and Gene loved to golf and were longtime members of the Rhinelander Country Club.

She was a Past President of the women's league. She also enjoyed bowling, fishing, picnicking, tending her flowers, baking and cooking, and a "Whoopensocker". She was accomplished in both needlepoint and crocheting.

Bernice and Gene were fortunate to be able to be "snowbirds" in Tucson, Ariz. for over 30 years. Second only to her Lord was her love for her family and friends and the time she was able to spend with them.

She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband Eugene "Gene" Gaber, her daughter Sharon Youngquist, her sons David (Deborah) Gaber, Thomas (Sue) Gaber and Dennis (Dana) Gaber, her grandchildren Jessica, Katie, Kimberly, Misti, Andy, Kristen, Emily, Justin and Paul, her great-grandchildren MaKayla, Natalie, Blake, Ella, Matalyn, Aubrey and Abigail; nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers John, Leo and Bob. A complete notice will follow shortly.

Visitation for Bernice will be held from 10 a.m. to noon with a Mass of Christian Burial following at noon on Friday, March 17, 2023, at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. Father Chris Kemp will be officiating. Interment will be in the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in Bernice's name and any gifts may be directed to her family.
