Chad Alan Gehrig, age 41, of Tomahawk, died on March 16, 2023, at Froedert Hospital in Wauwatosa, with his loving family at his side.
He was born on July 25, 1981, in Rhinelander, the son of Brian and Nancy (Angell) Gehrig.
Chad was born and raised in Rhinelander. He attended schools here graduating from Rhinelander High School in 2000. After his schooling he worked in sales for the Budweiser distributor and then for Miller Brewing for a number of years. Chad then began his career with the Department of Corrections for the State of Wisconsin. He had worked in Stanley, Gordon and then in McNaughton, where he was employed at the time of his death. He was well liked by both his fellow workers and even the inmates.
Chad enjoyed a number of hobbies in his spare time. He liked to fish, he was a movie buff, and he enjoyed traveling and the time spent at the cabin. He was a fan of all Wisconsin sports teams: the Bucks, Brewers, Badgers and especially the Packers. He loved to see people smile and hear them laugh, so much so that he had even considered going to school and training to be a comedian. Chad had a beautiful ability to lighten every space he entered with his humor and compassion. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
Chad is survived by his daughter Reese Gehrig, his son Connor Gehrig, his parents Brian and Nancy Gehrig, his sister Alicia (fiancé Ian) Gehrig, his brother Ben (Eva) Gehrig, his paternal grandfather Myron "Lou" Gehrig, his nephews Caleb and Jacob, his girlfriend Elizabeth "Liz" Dreger and her children Oriana and Edalyn, his cousins, aunts, uncles, other family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Marie Gehrig and his maternal grandparents George and Betty Angell.
A celebration of Chad's life will be held on April 1, 2023 at 1 p.m. at the Town of Pine Lake Town Hall at 4197 River Road in Rhinelander. You may leave your private condolences for the Gehrig family at www.carlsonfh.com.
The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is serving the Gehrig family.
