Ronald G. Spengler

Ronald G. Spengler, age 73, of Rhinelander, died Dec. 13, 2018, at his home, with his loving family at his side. He was born June 17, 1945, in Milwaukee, the son of Gordon and Emily (Clark) Spengler. His family moved to Rhinelander shortly thereafter and Ron attended schools in Rhinelander, graduating from RHS in 1963. He then attended UW Whitewater for a couple of years before volunteering for the U.S. Army. Ron served in Viet Nam and upon his honorable discharge he returned to Rhinelander and went to work for the Rhinelander Paper Company.

Ron married Joan Conn on June 6, 1971 and they enjoyed 47 years of marriage. Other than a short period of time in the UP, working at the paper mill up there, they made their home in Rhinelander. Ron enjoyed many activities especially woodworking. He really enjoyed their home on the river for the view, boating and most of all, the wonderful family times over the years.

Ron is survived by his wife Joan, his daughter Michelle Conrath and son Brian (Sharlene) Schoeneck, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, his three sisters Virginia Cady, Gloria Bauman and Nancy Wickham, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Ron will be held Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018 at noon, with visitation from 10 a.m. to noon, all at the Carlson Funeral Home. Chaplain John Uhlarik will officiate. Interment will be in the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery. You may leave your private condolences for the Spengler family at The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is serving the Spengler family.

Joan, please accept my condolences on Rons passing. Mike also wants to convey his as well, I had sent him a text, Ron & you were the best neighbors & we remember stuffing your fridge with food after tavern league meetings and Shannon running over after a rain to lay in a mud puddle from the ruts the delivery trucks made or coming to the bar window for her free slim Jims. Miss the old days and wish the best for you and the kids.
