Russell J. Fish, age 74, of Rhinelander, passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2020. Russ was born on Aug., 21, 1945 to Walter and Gertie (Delano) Fish. He graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1963. Russ proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968 where he served in Panama during the Vietnam War.
He married his high school sweetheart, Jean Carlson, in March 1968 and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage. He started at Rhinelander Paper Mill in 1965 and after his service continued to work with all of his closest friends until his retirement in 2007.
Russ was an avid outdoors man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, camping and shooting trap. He especially enjoyed his yearly trip to Canada hunting waterfowl. Also, he loved catfishing. He spent many mornings on the water in pursuit of the mighty "catfish". Russ advocated and taught those just learning the outdoors to be respectful and do it the "right" way. Russ had many friends that he had met through his journey in life. He will be missed greatly.
