Fern Marie (Rose) DeMars

Fern Marie (Rose) DeMars, age 97, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020, at The Bay at Nu-Roc. She was born in Reedsburg on Oct. 13, 1922, a daughter of Edward and Emma (Leske) Rose, the second youngest of seven children. Fern married Curt DeMars in Baraboo on Jan. 16, 1943. He preceded her in death in July of 1988. Together they had two children, Ellen, who passed away just days after her birth, and Judy White, who survives, and who remained her constant companion and caregiver, until the time she passed away. Besides her husband and infant daughter, she was also preceded in death by grandson-in-law, Bud Charbarneau.

Fern is further survived by her former son-in-law Louis White, two grandchildren, Jodi (Edward) Space, and Leah Charbarneau, her five great-grandchildren, David "Nick" (Tara) Alden, Rebekah "Bekah" (Dan) Imig, Lizabeth "Libby" (Dylan) McCorkle, Celia Space, and Ian Igor White Charbarneau. She felt honored to have lived long enough to see five of her six great-great grandchildren, Kalli, Emme, Averie, Cullen, and Owen. Her sixth great-great grandchild was born just three days before she passed, Jack Paul.

Fern was a kind and faithful woman, the ultimate caregiver. She always thought of others before herself, and it was her gentle and humble nature, along with so many other wonderful attributes, that made her so special. She worked hard all her life including caring for her disabled husband until he passed away. Fern took care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren so that they never had to attend daycare. She was the best cookie maker and all-around baker, and we will cherish her recipes for years to come. Though she was soft-spoken, she could come up with one-liners that made us laugh from the belly up. She kept her wonderful sense of humor until her last days. She is the example of a woman who lived a simple, but rich life, and one whom we will love and miss with our whole hearts forever. Rest in peace "Little One," you are now our angel.

A private family gathering to celebrate Fern's life, will be held at a later date.

Online condolences may be left for the family at www.weberhillfuneralhome.com.

Judy,
I will have fond memories of your mom forever. It was my privilege to care for her medical needs for a lot of her years. The care you gave her was wonderful!
