Kenton "Butch" R. Bex

Kenton "Butch" R. Bex, age 71, of Rhinelander, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Butch was born in Ashland on Oct. 10, 1949, to Kenneth D. and Elizabeth E. (LaCoursiere) Bex. He was raised in Ashland and was a graduate of Ashland High School. He moved to Chicago after graduating from high school and worked with his brother-in-law installing carpeting for one year. In 1970 Butch moved back to Ashland to take care of his mom. In 1971 he moved to Rhinelander where he attended Nicolet College, earning an associate degree in machine tool operation. He also learned how to weld. While attending Nicolet College, Butch met his future wife, Sandra Busch. The couple dated for five years and were married on Oct. 15, 1977 at Our Lady Queen of the Universe in Woodruff. The couple settled in Rhinelander and Butch began his employment at Triumph Twist Drill as a welder from 1973 until 2003. He then was employed in the janitorial department at the paper mill from 2004 until 2015.

Butch was very active in the Boy Scouts while his sons were involved.

He enjoyed his woodworking shop and metal shop, metal fabricating, fishing with his sons and grandkids and camping at Jack Lake near Antigo.

Family was very important to Butch and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Butch's hugs will be missed but remembered by everyone who knew him.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 43 years, Sandy; sons: Brian Bex (Joy Patafio) of Evansville, and Kevin (Brittany) Bex of Rhinelander, four grandchildren: Kalli, Konner, Kameron, and Katherine; two sisters, Kendra (Don) Lasee of Lodi, and Kristine (John) Phillips of Montana and by one brother, Kenneth (Nel) Bex of Gautier, Miss. Also surviving is his father-in-law, Merlin Busch of Arbor Vitae; brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law, Michael (Cheri) Busch of Antigo, Mark (Lisa) Busch of Rochester, Minn. and Jeanne (Joel) Faville of Fountain Hills, Ariz. Butch is further survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Elizabeth Bex; one infant daughter, Angel Bex; sister, Karen (Stan) Maday, mother-in-law Patricia Busch, brother-in-law Richard Munson and a niece, Julie Busch.

A Celebration of Butch's Life will take place in the summer of 2021.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hildebrand Funeral Home & Cremation Specialists, 24 E. Davenport Street, Rhinelander, Wisconsin 54501, 715-365-4343.
