Dona M. Pasanen, of Rhinelander, passed away on Monday morning, Dec. 14, 2020 at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital at the age of 85.
She was born in Lake Linden, Mich. on Aug. 28, 1935, to Harry and Hilda (Loka) Edwardson. Dona was raised in L'Anse, Mich. and was united in marriage to Gerald B. Pasanen in L'Anse, on March 1, 1952. The family lived in the U.P. until 1963 when they moved to Rhinelander from White Pine, Mich. Dona was employed as a nurse's aide at Friendly Village and for Dr. Cline.
Dona was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed traveling to the casinos, shopping, knitting, crocheting and was known to be a very good cook and baker. But most of all, Dona loved her children and took great pride in their accomplishments.
She will be dearly missed by her children: Debra (James) Drivas of Eau Claire, Lana Arnett (Diane Graetz) of Rhinelander, Blain (Deborah) Pasanen of Rhinelander, and son-in-law Robert Riopel of Rhinelander. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Michael, Derek, Todd, Tina, Tom, Anna and Bradley, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and a special cousin, Maxine Starcznski. She is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Dona was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gerald Pasanen, daughter Cheryl Riopel and by two sisters, Gail O'Brien and Nancy Arrowood.
The graveside service for Dona will be held this Friday, Dec. 18, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Northland Memorial Park, with Chaplain John Uhlarik officiating. Please meet at the cemetery.
The wearing of masks and social distancing will be required.
Dona's family would like to thank all of the caretakers, nurses and staff at Country Terrace and in the Special Care Unit at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital.
